Forget the grab and bake frozen pizza when you can have ingredients for this on standby. Soo easy and flavorful!
The kiddos dug into it before I could get the picture, it smelled that good!
1 roll Jimmy Dean original sausage
2 jars your favorite pasta sauce (Mine is Ragu Garden Style, gives so much flavor!)
3/4 green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
1 box Oven-Ready Lasagna noodles (no boiling required!)
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1 15 ounce container Ricotta cheese
1/2 teaspoon parsley
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, divided
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Cook the sausage, bell peppers, and onion over medium heat until sausage is crumbly and brown, here you can either drain it or not. There is hardly and fat from the sausage so I skip this step.
Add your 2 jars of pasta sauce to your meat and vegetable mixture and simmer while you prepare the ricotta.
In a small mixing bowl add your ricotta, eggs, parsley and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Mix well. Set aside.
Use a 9 x 13 baking dish. Scoop some of your meat sauce into the bottom. Layer the oven-ready lasagna on top . Top with meat sauce. Layer noodles again. This time layer the entire bowl of the ricotta mixture onto the noodles. Top with noodles. Layer meat sauce. One last layer of noodles and top with the remaining meat sauce.
To finish sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and the remaining Parmesan cheese.
Bake for 30-40 minute uncovered. If you like browned cheese on top broil for the last 5 minutes watching it very carefully.
* Omit sausage. Instead add the following ingredients into the pasta sauce 1-2 cups diced Zucchini, one diced green bell pepper, one diced red bell pepper, one diced yellow onion, add 1 cup chopped mushrooms. Simmer for 15-20 minutes on low heat until vegetables are tender.
* If you are eliminating dairy also, skip the cheese/Ricotta. It will still turn out just as good!
