Salsa – Restaurant Style

Makes: 2.5 Quarts


-1 can whole tomatoes (I don’t drain mine)

-2 cans Original Rotel

-1 chopped onion

-1 1/2 tablespoon fresh lime juice

-1 bunch of cilantro, chopped (I cut off hard stems and leave the rest)

-1-2 teaspoons minced garlic or to taste (I use bottled, it’s less expensive!)

-1/4 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste

-small pinch of sugar (it offsets the tomato)

-1 whole jalapeno, chopped (you can use jarred jalapeno’s found in your pickle area but it                            will taste different)

-dash of cumin

-dash of pepper


  1. Add whole tomatoes and Rotel to a blender, I use the PULSE option on LOW to blend it at first.
  2. Next add in the rest of your ingredients and pulse again. Remember, that how it tastes now IS NOT how it will taste later! I would still taste it to check the salt and spicyness. Play with it a little! (Your blender will be full!)


Refrigerate after everything is mixed, flavors will settle. My household has different tastes so I let them adjust as necessary.
